The award qualifies the holder to lead skiers who are members of a club affiliated to a Home Nation Governing Body or pupils from their own educational establishment.
A basic qualification designed to enable leaders to organise school, club and youth group ski courses, safely, responsibly, efficiently and in such a way as to give maximum educational benefit (in skiing terms) to young people. | | From time to time we receive additional dates of SCO and ASCL Courses, which do not appear on this calendar. Please call the Snowsport England Office to enquire about additional dates and to answer any questions or queries you may have. | | ALPINE SKI COURSE LEADER COURSES | The ASCL training programme is designed to train and qualify adult leaders, professional teachers, youth workers and club members who seek to introduce and lead young people on behalf of recognised educational establishments or member clubs affiliated to the Governing Body.
The ASCL is trained to a standard of group leadership so as to carry out this task within the boundary of a recognised ski resort on pisted slopes only.
The ASCL award does not permit the holder to lead groups under expedition conditions or to instruct in resorts on the continent of Europe.
Candidates attend a six-day course where the essential elements of skiing skill, leading and mountaincraft are developed and assessed.
It should be understood that the ASCL course cannot, in the time available, be fully comprehensive in the training of the candidate, but it is intended to supplement substantial prior individual experience.
The ASCL course syllabus has three components: Group Leadership, Mountain Skills and Skiing Skills. | ASCL Revalidation. | From time to time we receive additional dates of SCO and ASCL Courses, which do not appear on this calendar.
