DUAL SLALOM TEAM EVENT

The Dual Slalom Team Event is being organised by the Eastern Region Ski Association with the help of Clubs in our Region. ERSA  thanks  the host ski centre, their staff and all the clubs within our region for their help provided. The event will be run under Snowsport England  rules  as for “Parallel Slalom Relays” varied by ERSA.  Rules as for the Summer League will also apply. A course setter from the Home slope will be assigned if possible.

QUALIFICATION OF ENTRY

As for all ERSA events  competitors must have as their first named Club, a Club which is affiliated to ERSA. Each Club has to provide at least 2 race officials. All team entries have to be made on the attached race entry forms; handed to the race office on the day of the event or before the event if possible. Clubs may enter as many teams as they wish.  A Children’s event with racers from CH2 and below and an Open event will be run. Racers may not ski for more than one club or one team category.

PARALLEL RELAY

The Event will be run under SSE rules as a “PARELLEL RELAY” event varied by ERSA. A copy of the rules are available in the new Snowsport England race manual, also available on the ERSA Web site. Teams must comprise of 4 racers. No  restriction on composition of teams (single sex or mixed). Teams may  elect to race in any order but must nominate this order before the event starts on the attached race sheet and may not change once the team entries have been collected and the draw has been made.  Bibs will be issued. Reserves may be nominated, but only race in the event of withdrawal of a racer due to injury.

Children's Team must consist of racers in the CH1, CH2, BG and MINI Age  groups.

Open Age Group Teams  may comprise of any age group .

Once the draw has been made NO late entries will be accepted.

FORMAT AND BRIEF SUMMERY OF RULES

The races will take the form of a “PARRELLEL RELAY event, 4 racers per team. Racers will race on identical courses side by side. The winner to be decided by the first team to complete the course correctly. In the event of both teams being disqualified the team that has travelled the furthest down the course before the disqualification will be declared the winner. The first racer will be allowed one false start, thereafter in the event of a false start of any subsequent racer will entail a 6 second  penalty to the following racer except for the final racer where the team will be disqualified. Teams will be drawn into leagues and will race each other team in their league. Points will be awarded and depending on the number of teams entered a minimum of 8 teams will progress to the “FINAL” knockout stages. Electronic timing will be used if available. If possible ideally there should be one manager responsible for each team. This will simplify the organisation of the event and allow it to run more smoothly on the day. Course inspection will take the form of one run through the course.

RACE OFFICIALS

To ensure the smooth running of the Event, each Club must  put at least 2 RACE OFFICIALS forward to help run the event on the day. No experience is needed. Official will get a verbal job description.  Officials are asked to provide their own refreshments. Depending on time a break may be taken between the League and Knockout stages. A minimum of twelve officials is needed to run the event so if clubs wish to put up more than two officials and share the work this will be acceptable.

AWARDS will be made in the following categories:

1st, 2nd, 3rd in Children's and Open Categories.

All prize winners are expected to show due courtesy to the organisers by being present at the prize giving ceremony.

Those who do not attend without good reason will lose their claim to an award.
